The Other Side is unlike any ceremony venue I coordinate anywhere in the Bahamas. You arrive by boat to a private beach that has nothing behind it but palm trees and calm water. There are nine rooms. You can hear the sea from anywhere on the property. Couples who choose The Other Side are not choosing it because it is a famous landmark or a large resort. They are choosing it because they want to be somewhere that feels genuinely far away, and the ceremony can match that feeling exactly.

About The Other Side
The Other Side is a solar-powered boutique retreat situated in Bottom Harbour, on the Eleuthera shore directly opposite Harbour Island. It is reached by a seven to eight minute boat crossing on the property's 30-foot tender, which operates as a complimentary service for guests. The property was conceived and built by Ben, a native Bahamian who grew up on Harbour Island, with a deliberate philosophy of contrast to the busier rhythms of Harbour Island itself.
With approximately nine rooms, a combination of beachfront sleeping tents and hilltop shacks, it is the smallest and most intimate property Glenn coordinates ceremonies at across the entire Bahamas. The tents are more accurately described as fully appointed rooms: four-poster beds, outdoor bathtubs, walk-in showers, air conditioning, and direct views over the private bay. There are no televisions and no in-room phones. The absence of those things is intentional.
The property is completely off-grid and powered by its own solar system. The private beach sits on a calm bay where turtles and rays are regular visitors. A saltwater pool overlooks the water. An open-air dining tent serves food sourced partly from the property's own farm. Harbour Island, with its famous pink sand beach, shops, and restaurants, is a seven-minute boat ride away. The Other Side gives couples the remoteness of an outer island with easy access to Harbour Island's facilities.
What Makes The Other Side Different
9
Nine Rooms Total
The Other Side has approximately nine rooms. At capacity, there are still only a handful of guests on the property. Compare this to 107 at Four Seasons, 237 at Rosewood Baha Mar, or 1,800 at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. On a typical day at The Other Side, your ceremony may be the only event on the property. That level of exclusivity cannot be manufactured at a larger resort.
100%
Completely Solar-Powered and Off-Grid
The Other Side runs entirely on solar power. This is not an environmental marketing claim. It is the architectural reality of a property built on a remote Eleuthera shore where grid connection was never an option. For couples who choose it deliberately, arriving at a solar-powered ceremony retreat is part of what makes the experience distinctive.
7
Seven Minutes by Boat from Harbour Island
The boat crossing is not a logistical inconvenience. It is the beginning of the ceremony experience. Pulling up to a private beach by boat, greeted by staff on a private dock, with palm trees and calm water visible from the moment you arrive, sets the tone for a ceremony that feels unlike anything available in Nassau. The crossing also means the property is naturally private. Day-trippers cannot simply walk in.
+
Access to Harbour Island and Pink Sand Beach
Harbour Island is consistently rated one of the world's most beautiful islands and is famous for its pink sand beach, produced by crushed coral and microscopic organisms in the sand. The beach runs along the eastern shore of Harbour Island, seven to eight minutes by boat from The Other Side. Couples staying at The Other Side have easy access to the beach, the restaurants, and the small-town character of Dunmore Town.
Ceremony Settings at The Other Side
Private Beach on the Bay
The property's private beach on the Eleuthera shore is the primary ceremony setting. The beach faces across a calm harbour bay, sheltered from open ocean, making it ideal for ceremonies at any time of day. The water is exceptionally clear. Turtles and rays frequently swim in the bay. There are no other buildings, roads, or public access points on the beach. The ceremony takes place in a setting that is genuinely private by geography, not just by resort policy.
Saltwater Pool Terrace
The property's saltwater pool faces out over the bay with unobstructed water views. The pool terrace is a sheltered ceremony option for couples who want ocean views without a fully open beach setting. It works particularly well for smaller ceremonies of two to six people and for couples who prefer a more contained, intimate space.
Open-Air Dining and Garden Areas
The property includes open-air communal areas including the dining tent and garden spaces that can accommodate ceremony setups. These settings work well for ceremonies at midday when direct beach sun is strongest, providing partial shade while maintaining connection to the natural surroundings of the property.
Hillside Shacks Terrace
The hilltop shacks have terraces with elevated views over the bay and across to Harbour Island. A small ceremony at sunrise from the hillside terrace, with Harbour Island visible across the water, is one of the most photographically distinctive settings Glenn coordinates anywhere in the Bahamas.
How to Get to The Other Side
1
Fly to North Eleuthera Airport (ELH)
The closest airport is North Eleuthera (ELH). American Airlines serves it from Miami, Delta from Atlanta, and Aztec Airways from Fort Lauderdale. From Nassau, Pineapple Air and Southern Air offer connecting flights, typically 30 to 45 minutes flying time. Charter options including Coco Seaplane, Bahama Hoppers, and Golden Wings also serve North Eleuthera from Nassau. From the US, Tropic Airways and Makers Air offer seaplane or private options.
2
Taxi to the Port, Five Minutes
A five-minute taxi ride from North Eleuthera airport brings you to the ferry port. This is the standard arrival route. Glenn advises couples on the exact pickup point during the planning process. Do not take a random boat at the port. The Other Side's tender service is provided specifically for guests and is the correct crossing.
3
Eight-Minute Boat Crossing to The Other Side
The Other Side's captain meets arriving guests at the port and takes them across on the property's 30-foot tender. The crossing takes seven to eight minutes and arrives at The Other Side's private dock, where you step directly onto the property's beach. The boat service is complimentary for guests and operates across a range of hours. Glenn coordinates the ceremony timing with the property's transport schedule.

Where exactly is The Other Side and how do I get there?
The Other Side is in Bottom Harbour, Eleuthera, on the shore directly opposite Harbour Island. It is reached by a seven to eight minute boat crossing from North Eleuthera, not from Nassau.
The nearest airport is North Eleuthera (ELH), served by American Airlines from Miami, Delta from Atlanta, and Aztec Airways from Fort Lauderdale. From Nassau, Pineapple Air and Southern Air serve North Eleuthera. From the port a five-minute taxi connects to the ferry point, and The Other Side's own boat tender takes guests on the eight-minute crossing to the private dock. Glenn coordinates the ceremony timing with the property's transport schedule and advises couples on the complete travel route during the free consultation.
Is The Other Side actually on Harbour Island?
No. The Other Side is on the Eleuthera shore in Bottom Harbour, directly opposite Harbour Island. It is accessed from Harbour Island by a seven to eight minute boat crossing.
The property sits on the Eleuthera mainland, not on the island of Harbour Island itself. This distinction is what makes it remote: the boat crossing creates a genuine separation from Harbour Island's busier atmosphere. Harbour Island's famous pink sand beach is accessible from The Other Side by the property's tender service. Couples typically split time between the quiet of The Other Side and visits to Harbour Island for dining, shopping, and the beach.
How does The Other Side compare to Nassau venues for a vow renewal?
The Other Side is genuinely remote, with nine rooms, no public access, and a boat arrival. Nassau venues including Atlantis (1,000+ rooms), Baha Mar (2,300+ rooms), and even Four Seasons (107 rooms) are on islands directly connected to Nassau. None of them offer the same degree of isolation.
The choice between The Other Side and a Nassau venue depends on what the couple wants from the experience. Nassau venues offer direct access from the airport, more accommodation options at every budget, and an established resort infrastructure. The Other Side offers the opposite: genuine remoteness, a completely private beach, no crowds, and a ceremony setting that no Nassau resort can replicate. Couples who specifically want to feel away from everything typically choose The Other Side. Couples who want a landmark resort backdrop typically choose Atlantis or Four Seasons. Glenn can help you decide based on your priorities during the free consultation.
Do I need to be staying at The Other Side to have a ceremony there?
Not necessarily, but the logistics are significantly more straightforward for guests already staying on the property. Glenn advises on this during the consultation.
Guests staying at The Other Side have natural access to the property and the ceremony can flow as part of the stay. Couples not staying at the property can access it by arrangement with the property team, though coordination is more involved and any venue fee would still apply. Glenn manages all direct communication with The Other Side team on behalf of every couple he books there.
Do I need a marriage license for a vow renewal at The Other Side?
No. A vow renewal requires no marriage license, no government application, and no waiting period anywhere in the Bahamas, including at The Other Side on Eleuthera.
A vow renewal is a symbolic ceremony of recommitment that falls entirely outside the legal marriage framework. Because you are already legally married, no paperwork of any kind is required. You choose a date, select a package, and arrive. See the full license requirements guide for complete details.
Glenn was phenomenal. He put together a keepsake booklet with our family history. It was a very pleasant surprise, as if he knew us personally. His words were genuine and perfect. Glenn made our renewal very special in a very beautiful setting.
